Version 1.00 - Now able to save out the EXIF data using EXIFinfo 0.59 beta
I wrote this little application, in anticipation of EXIFinfo being
able to do what I want in the near future, called MakeAlbum.
Now it will save out the EXIF data from camera images in a form
suitable for Pic_Index to display using the EXIFinfo program, and,
additionally, it optionally does all these other useful things:
It would be helpful to have the feedback of this group at this early stage, though I do
not want to 'go public' with it yet.
The EXIFinfo program now, with version 0.59 beta, can operate from the command line. I
place my copy in the same directory as MakeAlbum so the filer can 'see' both of them.
As supplied, the data is saved into a directory called 'exifinfo'. If you wish to test using
the result with Pic_Index 1.20e, you should rename this directory as 'notes'.
You can use a mixture of EXIFs and standard JPEGs, and the EXIF data will only be produced
for the EXIF images.
One problem with using EXIFs with Pic_Index at the moment is that it cannot detect the size
of the JPEG, but I hope that a future version of Pic_Index will overcome this.
However, I hope that you will be able to see the potential of MakeAlbum + Pic_Index for
accessibly indexing your EXIFs and storing a copy of the EXIF data when this problem has
been overcome.
Of course you should keep your original copy unaltered, and Chris Terran, author of EXIFinfo,
recommends locking your originals against deletion.
